Harambee is the volleybal club at the Univesity of Twente and consists mostly of students. Besides volleybal on different levels (a.o., from 4th class to 2nd division in the NeVoBo competition and an internal mix-competition) Harambee offers a lot of sociability. It has found a perfect blend between fun and a high level of sportmanship as is shown by the fact that with 250 members Harambee is one of the largest team-sport clubs at the University of Twente. Just as the other student sport clubs Harambee is affiliated to the umbrella sports council "de Sportraad" of the University of Twente, a member of Students' Sports Netherlands. Furthermore Harambee is, just like most of the other clubs, a member of the Student Union.
All teams train and play in the excellent accomodation of the "Sportcentrum" at the Campus. Harambee has a number of licensed trainers, some of which are still students and it organizes internal courses for their own student trainers. Throughout the club, form low to high, these trainers try to stimulate all players to exploit their full potential. During the games you can recognize Harambee teams by their striking purple/orange outfit. After a training or a game you will find a Harambee member enjoying a beer in the canteen. Harambee is a very active club and it organizes numerous events ranging from (international) tournaments to non-volleybal related social events as a sailing weekend or the yearly ball.
